Polarity Therapy
working with the energy body
Polarity Therapy is a hands-on modality of bodywork that works with movement of energy in the body. It recognizes that we are all animated by energy, or life-force, and that energy needs to be flowing freely for there to be optimal health.
It recognizes that our life-force is imbued with intelligence that guides the functioning of our bodies and also the healing. By helping the free flow of energy in the body I can help the innate healing capacities to express.
During a session I, as a practitioner, use my hands on my client’s body to facilitate the movement of energy through different parts of their body.
Polarity Therapy can be of great benefit for:
symptoms of pain or tension
recovery from injuries/accidents and surgeries
regulating the fight/flight state in the nervous system
increasing overall vitality and wellbeing
getting in touch with a deep state of being
emotional healing and spiritual connection
History of Polarity Therapy
The founder of Polarity Therapy, Dr. Randolph Stone ( 1890 – 1981) was an Osteopath, a Naturopath and a Chiropractor and had extensive knowledge of Ayurveda ( the ancient healing science of India). He combined his knowledge of all of those systems into Polarity Therapy. Apart from using bodywork, Polarity includes self-awareness, diet and energy exercises to work with one’s own health.
More about Polarity Therapy
Since much of Polarity Therapy comes from Ayurveda, it includes the chakra system and the ayurvedic five elements. Through the map of the five elements we can work on the physical, as well as emotional and energetic levels.
What does a Polarity session look like?
During a Polarity Therapy session you will be fully clothed. Usually you will be lying on a massage table for most of the session as I use my hands to touch your body with light or sometimes deeper pressure or use movement and rocking when needed. The work tends to be deeply relaxing.
We might also be exploring emotional or traumatic issues if desired and combine Polarity Therapy with Craniosacral Therapy or Somatic Trauma Therapy or Psychotherapy. I also might give you practices to do at home to support your healing process.
